Organisation of Music Authors of Serbia

During the last 70 years, Sokoj has been adapting its organisation and structure to demands and needs of the times. Sokoj manages the rights of music authors, lyricists, arrangers, and other holders of copyright in musical works of all genres, with or without words.

Sokoj represents over 12.000 domestic music authors and other copyright holders and, on the basis of contracts entered into with foreign copyright societies, more than 4.500.000 foreign authors i.e. the entire world music repertoire.

Sokoj’s organisation is designed on the most advanced model of the European collecting societies.

Since 1956, Sokoj has been a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) with headquarters in Paris.

Since 1959, Sokoj has been a member of the Bureau International de l’Edition Mécanique (BIEM) administering mechanical rights.

We make it possible for you to enjoy the commercial benefits of using music and at the same time enable the music authors to receive a fair payment for the public use of their work.

WE REPRESENT COPYRIGHTS OF OVER 12 000 DOMESTIC AND
MORE THAN 4 500 000 FOREIGN AUTHORS

THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC

The famous hit “Thank You for the Music” is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA written by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. It is not coincidence that Björn Ulvaeus is the new President of CISAC – the umbrella organisation representing authors’ societies – of which Sokoj is a member. A prolific writer of over 150 hit songs for ABBA and other performers, Ulvaeus is also one of the most vocal campaigners for the rights of authors and creators, bringing a deep understanding of the collective management of rights and the music industries in general. His mission at the helm of CISAC will be to secure stronger legal protection, fight for more just distribution of royalties, and improved conditions for creators across the music, audiovisual, visual arts, and other repertoires.
The ABBA’s song is a kind of the author’s gratitude to the music itself that pervades everything on this globe.

“Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing / Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing / Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty / Without a song or a dance, what are we? / So I say thank you for the music / For giving it to me.”

Listening to Nature, many hear music.

Simply, music has the power to embellish any place, make it more beautiful, richer, attractive to people who visit it. The Sokoj’s authors create music and produce a sublime work for which sublime thoughts, enormous gift, and a lot of knowledge are required.

Thank you for the music, thanks to all of you who gave it to us.
